TEN ECOPORT: a project for the development of the ports in the South-East Europe

At the port of Bari was presented the previous Friday, December 7th, the european project TEN ECOPORT, which is aimed at establishing common rules for the environmental management of the ports in the Adriatic, Ionian and Black Sea areas and for the development of the maritime trade within these zones.
 
The project is funded with 2.3 million euro by the Managing Authority of the Transnational Cooperation Programme SOUTH-EAST EUROPE (SEE), which aims to improve the territorial, economic and social integration of the 16 countries participating in it.
 
The Polytechnic of Bari will implement and manage the project TEN ECOPORT until September 2014, as a lead partner and scientific responsible. Moreover, the project involves also ten port Authorities and five more research/educational institutions coming from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro and Romania.
 
"Let's start with the results of the project ECOPORT 8 and the close collaboration between research centers and port authorities - underlined Professor Leonardo Damiani, TEN ECOPORT Project Manager. Let's look at the development of the south-east shipping routes exploiting, through new activities, the results already achieved".
