During this sub-activity Feasibility Studies for Port Operators, TEN ECOPORT will exploit the results of ECOPORT 8 where 20 post-graduates students were involved in the Capacity Building Activity, which consisted in a training course of 140 hours, under the title “Port Environmental Manager”, planned with a view to creating twenty (20) competent PORT ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGERS. The course, indeed, aimed to capitalize the results of ongoing research for the development of professionals equipped with working knowledge of the standards required by environmental certification in each of the ports involved, flexible enough to be deployed within a range of environments including ports yet also freight and storage depots, logistics terminals etc. The right balance of lectures and “work-on-site” hours provided a complete range of information and tools to the employees in the field of environmental management, in order to create professionals able to design, manage, and improve the effective implementation of EMS in each of the ports involved in ECOPORT 8 Project. The results of the training course are described in the report PORT ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER - 140 hour training course.

In addition, ECOPORT 8 concluded with the production of a FINAL PROTOCOL summarizing the results of the activities of the ECOPORT 8 project which were the commitments to respect certain environmental rules that would allow the fulfillment of the project vision to establish SEE routes as environmental corridors.
