Transnational Conferences

The environmental issues tackled by TEN ECOPORT, as well as the general objective of the project, are considered as highly important, especially for port authorities and all the involved stakeholders. Therefore, within the framework of the project two International Conferences will be organized in order to:
a. inform local, regional and EU authorities about the port environmental issues and
b. disseminate the results and outcomes of the project.

The TEN ECOPORT Transnational Conferences will be organized and held in Tirana and in Varna.

A similar activity had been developed during the implementation of the ECOPORT 8 project, as well. More specifically, four transnational events had been organized in order to disseminate the project’s objectives, outputs and results and trigger other stakeholders’ interest. The success of those events is partially depicted on the new partnership of TEN ECOPORT, as some of the invited stakeholders are now actively involved in the project as partners. Thus, it is proven that these transnational conferences not only raised the awareness regarding the critical environmental issues of the ports but they also stimulated the interested parties to become actively involved in the continuation of the project, in TEN ECOPORT.

The Transnational Events organized within the framework of ECOPORT 8 were:
Kick–off meeting of ECOPORT 8, 30 July 2009, Bari, Italy
2nd Transnational Event of ECOPORT 8, 21 October 2010, Bucharest, Romania

3rd Transnational Event of ECOPORT 8, 25 November 2011, Bari, Italy
4th Transnational Event of ECOPORT 8, 8 June 2012, Bourgas, Bulgaria
